The Big Picture is a year-long contest organised by The New Paper and the Ministry of Information, Communication and the Arts to encourage Singaporeans to document their city based on fortnightly themes such as "A Nation Votes" and "Back to School". Since the contest began on 9 August, 2011, it has given out a weekly prize of S$500 for the best picture picked by a rotating panel of three judges from Singapore's photography community.
With the help of documentary photography group Platform, we have been running each week's contest, co-ordinating with the judges, maintaining the contest's online presence, and writing the full-page story behind the winning picture that is published on The New Paper every Tuesday.
