“The theme for the President’s Design Award 2011 book and exhibition is ‘Multipli-City’.

It not only celebrates the multitude and diversity of talents, ideas, and designs that this award has recognised through its six-year history, but also the ‘multiplier effect’ the award recipients have and will continue to generate with their designs. These range from a palm-sized, high performance and environmentally-friendly motor, a delectable magazine targeted at global citizens, a public hospital that draws from its surroundings and community to serve the needs of its patients, to an exhibition that showcased how Singapore’s compact urban design can encourage more sustainable cities for the world.”

The President’s Design Award is Singapore’s highest honour accorded to designers and designs, recognising the significant contributions of a group of people who are making a difference to the lives of Singaporeans and the larger global community. The Awards is organised by the DesignSingapore Council and the Urban Redevelopment Authority and has been given out annually since 2006.

We interviewed and wrote stories about the winners, as well as edited and proof-read the official documents to produce the commemorative book designed by H55 Studio and the exhibition created by Black Design.
